Reese A. Davis, managing partner of the firm, has been practicing
law in Wayne since 1962, when he joined Greenwell, Porter, Smaltz
& Royal. Mr. Davis became a partner in the Greenwell firm in
1967. That firm changed its name to Davis Bennett Spiess &
Prendergast in 2002. He maintains a varied and wide-ranging practice,
including education law, commercial and residential real estate law,
zoning and land development law, business law, estate planning and
administration and litigation. Since 1995 he has served as the
Radnor Township School District solicitor, a position that was held
by other partners in the Greenwell firm from 1930 until 1995. The
publishers of Philadelphia Magazine and Law and Politics
have recognized Mr. Davis as a Superlawyer in the field of School
and Education Law. The Superlawyer designation is a distinct
honor, since it results from votes by other lawyers familiar with
the capabilities of the attorney receiving the designation.
He has
served as the Radnor Township School District Authority solicitor
since 1983, and held the same position with the Radnor Township
Municipal Authority from 1983 until it was dissolved in 1991.
Mr. Davis received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from
Bucknell University in 1958. In 1961 he received his law degree,
magna cum laude , from Dickinson School of Law, where he
ranked first in his graduating class. During law school he
participated in National Moot Court and served as Articles Editor of
the Dickinson Law Review . He also has served as a member of the Board of
Trustees of Dickinson School of Law.
Mr. Davis is admitted to practice law before all Pennsylvania
Courts, the U. S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania,
the U.S. Court of Appeals, Third Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and its section
on Education Law and the Delaware County Bar Association and its
School District and Authority Committee. He is also a member of the
Pennsylvania School Board Solicitor’s Association and the National
School Boards Association Council of School Attorneys.
Throughout his career Mr. Davis has been active in and has served
as an officer or director of many organizations, including Main Line
Chamber of Commerce, Del-Chester Kiwanis Club, Radnor Fire Company,
Wayne Jaycees and Delaware County Lawyers’ Club.
