F. Harry Spiess Jr.

F. Harry Spiess, Jr., a partner of the firm, maintains a transactional practice which focuses on four major areas of the law: real estate, corporate, commercial and family law. In the corporate and commercial areas, Harry advises clients on business contracts and transactions, corporate formation and related business subjects. In the area of Family Law he practices in divorce, custody, support and protection from abuse. His real estate practice consists of helping clients in the purchase and sale of real estate, acquisition of clear title, land development, zoning and he represents mortgagors and mortgagees.   

Harry serves as a neutral arbitrator in uninsured and underinsured motorist cases, being selected to serve by attorneys for claimants and insurance company counsel. He provides pro bono legal services through the Delaware County Legal Assistance Association has served as a member of the Delaware County Legal Assistance Fund Raising Committee.

Describing the most satisfactory part about practicing law, Harry says, "I enjoy being able to assist clients in a time of need by providing solutions to problems."

Harry received a bachelor of arts degree from Lafayette College in 1964, majoring in Psychology, where he was also a member of Phi Kappa Psi. He received his law degree from Villanova University School of Law in 1968.

Harry has been a member of the Delaware County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations since 1968 and the Monroe County Bar Association since 1999. He is admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar, as well as the U.S. Supreme Court and Federal District Court.  Mr. Spiess was a co-founder of the Main Line Lawyers Forum, for which he served as President in 1988; served as Secretary of the Delaware County Bar in 1986-87, as Director from 2001-2002 and has served on numerous bar committees and is currently co-chair of its golf committee.

Unofficially nicknamed "the mayor of Wayne", Harry is very active in the Radnor and Wayne community. His past service includes the Wayne Rotary Club, where he served as President from 1976-1977, Wayne Junior Chamber of Commerce, where he served as President from 1972-1973,  Wayne Business Association, where he served as President from 1987-1988, Radnor Township Memorial Day Parade, which he chaired in 1986, Radnor Historical Society (Director and Solicitor), St. David's Golf Club, for which he has served as Secretary/Treasurer and Counsel. He has been active in Boy Scouts of America, for which he acted as Constellation District Chair from 1998 to 2000. He served as President of Wayne Elementary School PTA and Director of the Wayne Public Safety Association (reputed to be one of the oldest civic associations in the United States).  

In 2001, Harry was honored as recipient of the Robert Morris Citizenship Award.  This award, presented by the Constellation District, Cradle of Liberty Council of the Boy Scouts of America, recognized Harry's civic and community action, leadership in his field and strong support of the programs which aid America's youth. 

Harry received the Special Delaware County Bar Association President's Recognition Award in 2002 and Certificate for Pro Bono Service in 2003.  He was recognized as a 2004 Pennsylvania Superlawyer in the area of Real Estate Law by the publishers of Philadelphia Magazine and Law and Politics.  Click here to read  a recent article in the Suburban-Wayne Times featuring Harry as Person of the Week.

Harry was born on March 17, 1943, in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Residing in Wayne, he is married and the father of four children.
